My COVID Christmas

Well, it finally happened. Jim and I managed to go through almost two years of the pandemic without testing positive. That changed last Sunday. We were preparing to visit family and friends in Pittsburgh, and took rapid antigen tests to check our COVID-19 statuses. I tested negative, but Jim was positive. The next day, I got a rapid molecular test that was also negative. Jim is isolating for 10 days. On a positive note, he appears to be asymptomatic. Of course, this could have happened at any other time that we decided to test ourselves.

At first, I was very sad and angry. I still am a little, but I have almost two weeks before returning to work. Yay! I have perhaps an unprecedented amount of time to do all kinds of stuff: write, read, play my guitar, watch movies, walk around Boston, Zoom with loved ones, clean our place (ugh).

My last post was about gratitude. I am still very grateful for so many things. We continue to be very fortunate, unlike so many others right now. I wish everyone peace, love, and happiness this holiday season.
